Community Interest Projects
FSD FC CIC
FSD Academy was founded with the primary aim of helping young people, especially those that come from challenging backgrounds, to get ahead in life and maximise their potential—on and off the football pitch.
FSD’s founders, Matthew Piper and Owen Johnson, both grew up in the local area and are committed to working with the community and local schools.
The philosophy behind FSD is based on the “three i’s”, intent, implementation and impact, and we’re clear in what we want to do—support young people throughout their development pathway to help them become the absolute best they can be.
Our Vision
The FSD vision is to be the best, most productive independent youth and adult education and sports community hub in Leicester and Leicestershire.
Our objectives are:
Pathways
Create new career pathways for young people in Leicester, therefore increasing the range of support we can make available to them to help them progress towards sustainable lifestyles.
Support
Through community based support and mutual aid, assist local families that face social, economic or health challenges such as mental health, unemployment, obesity and other health related issues.
Trusted
Become a trusted partner working collaboratively with local sports clubs, education institutions, community groups and local companies to develop and deliver innovative approaches to addressing local needs.
FSD FC Community Interest Company
To support our efforts we established a not-for-profit community interest company (CIC) to help us develop new community projects: FSD FC Community interest Company.
Since it was established, FSD FC CiC has developed a range of community-facing programmes, including sports and community initiatives. We were proud to be a partner organisation in Leicester’s first government renewal fund (post pandemic) to help support the people and communities in the greatest need within Leicester and Leicestershire.
Since the inception of FSD FC CiC in October 2020 we have worked on over 15 different community projects, alongside like minded organisations, city councils, charities, government, schools and sports clubs.
