FSD’s pathway has formed Farris’s re-engagement and provided therapeutic support throughout his time at the Academy, increasing self-esteem, and encouraging high aspirations. This approach focuses on reaching the personal targets and educational goals that the student has, creating an optimistic outlook and a holistic approach to meeting individual needs in an educational environment.

Farris’s development during the programme has created a positive mindset, enabling behavioural changes, such as achieving all educational targets and creating a pathway into future coaching. Farris’s development has created a successful and mature mindset, enabling him to incorporate his own knowledge into sessions at FSD. He regularly supports his peer’s practical ability and encourages younger students to adapt a positive attitude towards learning. He is a role model for all students and his FSD journey is confirmation that change is always achievable.

So after several conversations with the school and other organisation’s we eventually found FSD!

My first meeting at FSD was very positive and productive. They made us feel as a family feel very comfortable and positive about what they could offer Farris. The most important thing for Farris was that they understood him, he was very apprehensive at first but that first meeting totally put him at ease and as a parent that was a massive thing for us. This was the first time we felt we could relax with him being at school.

The change in Farris has been ‘massive!’ He is interacting with people now more than ever. He now plays football on Saturdays and Sundays and feels more relaxed and comfortable within himself.

When people find a connection with children that don’t quite conform to the so called norm, great things can happen. The change in our child has been endless.

I’m not suggesting it is all FSD’s good work that has led us to this point in Farris’s journey but they have definitely laid the foundations for him to make these huge steps forward and I think that is so important.

I never thought I would see the day that he missed school but here we are at half term holidays with him moaning that he wants to get back to FSD.

What people and society need to understand is ‘all kids are unique’, they don’t all fit into the same box and it takes the right people to understand this and FSD have. They have all the people in all the right places. Thank you.
